About Us
Our Vision
The Honors College at UNC Charlotte is a top choice destination for academically motivated undergraduate students who want to learn and grow within the rich environment of North Carolina’s urban research university.
Our Mission
The Honors College provides students access to robust curricular and co-curricular experiences designed to foster curiosity, community, and connections with the city of Charlotte. We offer students the opportunity to take interdisciplinary seminars with excellent faculty and connect with sustained partnerships outside the classroom in undergraduate research, study abroad, community engagement, internships, and more.
The Honors College supports all honors and merit scholars programs at UNC Charlotte and is home to the University Honors Program (UHP), the largest honors program on campus and open to all majors. We are a community for academically motivated students who are interested in holistic development. Honors at UNC Charlotte is based in experiential learning – which is learning by doing and reflecting. We believe this is the best way for students to fully grasp the content they are being taught and practice it in the real world. This approach provides opportunity for dynamic discussions in class, allows students to research topics that interest them, and empowers them to explore and investigate their world.
CORE VALUES
In all aspects of the Honors College experience, faculty, staff, and students embody:
- Intellectual curiosity and growth
- Integrity and authenticity
- Community and relationship building
- Mutual investment in the pursuit of meaningful goals

Perspective-Taking
Encourage students to understand varied perspectives with an open mind – to think critically, evaluate evidence, and reflect on one’s own world view.

Foster students’ intellectual, academic, emotional, professional, and social growth.
Engagement with Charlotte and Beyond
