Erik Byker, Ph.D.
Dr. Erik Jon Byker is the Interim Associate Dean of the Honors College and a full professor at UNC Charlotte. In 2021, he founded and is the co-Executive Director of the Global-ready Research Center (also called the GREET Center). He has received several awards for his teaching including: the 2025 NC Board of Governors Teacher Award, the 2024 Bank of America Teaching Excellence Award (the highest award a professor can receive at UNC Charlotte), and the Bonnie E. Cone Early Career Professorship for 2021-2024. He has a Ph.D. Degree in Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Policy from Michigan State University and hold a M.Ed. Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Virginia. His research agenda is comparative and international in scope and he has conducted field studies in Cuba, England, Germany, India, South Africa, South Korea, and across the USA.
