Student Involvement

Looking for a way to become more involved in honors? Become a student honors ambassador or join the UHPSA Executive Board. These opportunities allow you to become fully invested in the UHP experience and work closely with the other UHP students. Scroll down for more information.

Student honors Ambassadors

As a student honors ambassador, you will:

  • Support UHPers throughout their first year in UHP
  • Assist with Honors College social events and engagements
  • Represent and advocate for UHP and the Honors College through events like Open House and Admitted Students Days
  • Recruit continuing students to join honors through events like Gold Rush

Ambassadors meet monthly for support in the ambassador role.

The Student Honors Ambassador application process typically begins in April for the following academic year.

UHPSA executive board

The UHP Student Association (UHPSA) Executive Board is comprised of six (6) elected members: President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, and Communications Liaison.  Elections for new officers typically occur in March, and the newly elected members begin their role in May for the following academic year. The Executive Board meets weekly and spearheads many of the activities for UHPers.

Responsibilities for all UHPSA Executive Board members:

  • Be committed to regular service on the Executive Board and to the betterment of UHP
  • Be committed to getting to know and engaging with the membership
  • Attend & be a productive member of weekly UHPSA Executive Board meetings
  • Serve as a representative for the UHP membership and communicate to Honors College staff on behalf of the membership
  • Serve in an advisory capacity to the Honors College faculty and staff
  • Assist in the planning and execution of UHP events
  • Assist other Executive Board members in the basic planning needs of UHP
  • Plan programming for UHPSA general body meetings

Specific responsibilities for each position:

President (Year two of the President-Elect position)
  • Cast a vision for UHP that fosters community, service, and scholarship
  • Prepare the agenda for UHPSA Executive Board meetings
  • Call and preside over UHPSA general body meetings
  • Mentor the current President-Elect
President-Elect
  • Fulfill the role of the President, if that person is unable to
  • Work with the president to cast a vision for UHP that fosters community, service, and scholarship
  • Be committed to coordinating community service events with service partners
  • This position serves a two-year term (year one will serve as President-Elect, year two will serve as President)
Secretary
  • Responsible for taking notes at each UHPSA Executive Board and general body meeting and preparing them for upload where appropriate
  • Assist with scheduling of times and rooms for UHP events
  • Tracks attendance for UHPSA general body meetings, including creating the makeup assignment/quiz in the UHP Canvas course for people who could not attend and adding those students to the secondary Helper Helper opportunity once they’ve completed the quiz at 100%
Treasurer
  • Manage funds allocated to UHP from the Honors College
  • Make requests to Honors College Business Services Coordinator to purchase items for UHP events (need at least 2 weeks advance notice)
Historian
  • Take pictures and video as documentation for UHP events and UHPSA general body meetings
  • Work with Secretary to create the makeup module for missed UHPSA general body meetings
  • Work with the membership to collect photos and videos
Communications Liaison
  • Responsible for the public relations and social media of the UHPSA Executive Board and for representing UHP to the wider community
  • Serve as a liaison between UHP and the campus and Charlotte communities
